The Grid Decision 2019-Q2 Leaderboards are now available for download! This is our sixth quarter publishing the Grid Decision leaderboards and they are getting better every quarter, especially this quarter.
This quarter, I thought I would take some time to share more about Grid Decision and how this quarter is different from past quarters.
After five quarters of incremental improvements, we decided it was time for a major rewrite of the Request for Information (RFI) that we send to the technology vendors each quarter. Here are some of the changes we made:
The consolidated Solutions RFI consisted of 2,694 questions this quarter and the Hardware Services RFI remained at 498. Hats off to the 23 participating vendors for investing the time and resources to fill out these RFIs. Given the amount of effort to fill out this new consolidated RFI, several vendors skipped this quarter and plan to resume participation in Q3.
Now that you know about the major changes in the RFI data used to produce the leaderboards, let's step back and look at the big picture to give you an overview of Grid Decision:
When we created Grid Decision, we spent a lot of time thinking about what would make us different than the other research companies out there. We came up with this list and it has informed our decisions for the past two years:
We are privileged to have some exceptional technology executives on our advisory board:
Our advisory board provides us with input on the market weighting models and which new leaderboards we should add each quarter.
The following is the high-level process we execute each quarter to ensure our data is fresh and accurate:
As you can see in the research methodology, it all starts with us applying the market weighting models to the RFI data to produce over 300 leaderboards across the restaurant, retail, and hotel verticals.
The objective of these leaderboards is not to tell operators which solution to select, it is to help them use an objective, data-driven approach to rapidly short-list vendors for the more high-touch evaluation methods like onsite presentations/demos, reference calls, and pricing negotiations. But relying on our "market-focused" weighting models may not represent your brand's priorities accurately. That is why we created the Custom Grid option.
Accomplish in 1 day what typically takes 4-6 weeks in a traditional RFP process
Here is an overview of the process we use to create a client-specific Custom Grid:
Our Custom Grid clients have told us that the output is better than what they could have created themselves over a 7-10 month RFI/RFP process. Here are a few of the benefits of the Custom Grid:
Capture the confidential and client-specific data via a mini-RFP
The obvious next step after using the Custom Grid to help rapidly short-list vendors is to capture the confidential and client-specific data (example: pricing, references, and client-specific questions). We offer a service to upgrade the Custom Grid to a Premium Grid, adding that additional data to the grid. Here are the additional steps:
Now you have in 1-2 weeks what typically takes 7-10 weeks using the traditional RFI/RFP process to short-list vendors to bring onsite.
Talk is cheap so below we are sharing testimonies from some of our clients who have leveraged our data to rapidly short-list technology vendors using the Premium Grid option:
